“When In Disgrace With Fortune And Men’s Eyes (Sonnet 29)” by Florence Welch

What do you get when you cross famous poet and playwright William Shakespeare (yes, that one) and indie-band Florence and the Machine? It’s today’s Hear This! track, catchily entitled (by the bard of course) When In Disgrace With Fortune And Men’s Eyes (Sonnet 29) by Florence Welch, and it also features backing vocals from Rufus Wainwright.

The track is taken from Wainwright’s forthcoming album Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets, which is being released to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. The album will also feature vocals from the likes of William Shatner and Helena Bonham-Carter.

It’s a beautifully sung subtle melody, featuring plenty of harp action and it’s well worth a listen.
