They were rather late to the party, only making their music available to streaming services like Spotify, Deezer and Tidal in December 2015, but in shock news it turns out that The Beatles have proved to be rather popular. In their first 100 days on Spotify, they’ve been streamed more times than popular current artists like Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande and Sia, with 50 million Beatles songs played in the first 48 hours alone. And it’s not just the old fogies feeling all nostalgic. Apparently two-thirds of Beatles listeners are aged 35 or under.
And on the back of this success, the record label have this week made the band’s Anthology series available to stream. Originally released as two CD sets in the nineties, Anthology’s three chronological collections of rare and previously unreleased Beatles recordings include studio outtakes and alternate versions.
